Yes, it was in fact a summer camp…

Cue the old timey music … Our great grand [parents Ruth and Riv White first settled on Lake Tashmoo in the 1920s, where for nine years Ruth directed a summer camp for youngsters that focused on drama, music, and crafts instead of competitive sports. Ruth and Riv’s son Bob and his wife Molly (our grandparents) built these two summer houses on the same land in the 1950s.

Ruth’s grandfather (and our Great great great grandfather) was Chart George who was the founder of The Eldridge Coastal Pilot book back in 1853, the forerunner to the Eldridge Tide and Pilot Book, which began publication in 1875 and has been continuously published by generations of our family to this day.

We do hope you enjoy your stay at Camp Tashmoo and take time to enjoy the land, lake, and surrounding sea.

Yours for a fair tide,

The Whites
